Choose a target rather than predicting demand
The whole-pack tool asks for a user-chosen target and usable matching units already held. It does not estimate consumption per employee, working day or project. For folders, use individual folders as the target unit; for the selected pen, use pens; for the selected pad, use pads. Keep those units consistent in both inputs. The tool performs procurement arithmetic, not an office-usage recommendation or a replacement-life forecast.
Use the verified pack size
Smead 10339 is 100 folders per selected box. If a user chooses a target of 125 folders and already holds 20 usable matching folders, the gap is 105. Two whole 100-folder boxes supply 200 additional folders, creating a final count of 220 and 95 above the chosen target. The surplus is shown explicitly. Buying one box would leave the chosen target unmet; buying 105 boxes would confuse folders with boxes.
Handle zero and surplus without forcing a purchase
If usable matching stock already meets the target, the tool returns zero new packs. If the user chooses a zero target, it likewise does not recommend buying stock. Blank, negative, fractional or excessive counts remain unresolved. Counts must refer to usable matching items: an A4 sleeve is not automatically equivalent to a Letter folder, and a refill is not a spare pen body. The user is responsible for the actual stock count; no inventory system is contacted.
Review the rounded result before ordering
A large surplus may justify seeking a different verified pack size or revisiting the chosen target. That is a purchasing decision outside the arithmetic. The current tool does not invent a smaller split-box offer or assume that a retailer accepts partial packs. Recheck the exact pack contents and offer status at the seller, then enter any changed specification before calculating again. Inputs stay in the browser and do not transmit employee, document or stock records to a seller.
Use the same stock definition in both inputs
If the target is for black BL77-A pens, usable stock should count matching working pens, not empty bodies awaiting refills or assorted pens with an unverified ink category. For folders, count usable folders rather than unopened boxes unless you first convert boxes to their verified contents. A mixed stock room can therefore require a short count before using the tool. The tool does not inspect inventory, infer missing counts or judge condition. Its result is only as specific as the user's chosen unit and actual matching-stock input.
