Treat the ink category as part of the specification
Pentel describes the selected EnerGel RTX as a liquid-gel pen. A purchase request for an ordinary ballpoint may use the word pen casually, or it may refer to a specific requirement for a form or process. Ask which meaning applies before substituting. The fact that two instruments are retractable, black and marked 0.7 mm does not establish the same ink formulation, refill shape, drying behavior or suitability for a particular document.
Keep document rules outside a generic shopping shortcut
Some workplaces specify an approved writing instrument for a particular form, record or stock. Desk Sequence has not reviewed a buyer's internal rules, carbonless forms or coated paper. The selected BL77-A record therefore supports only its stated product identity and ordinary purchase arithmetic. It does not certify that liquid-gel ink meets every permanent-record requirement. If the rule names a standard, obtain the exact supporting documentation rather than interpreting a broad premium or quick-drying description as compliance.
Separate a source claim from a local result
Pentel describes quick-drying performance, but the site has not run timed drying or smear tests on the Rhodia pad or another sheet. No line image on this site is a measured comparison between gel and ballpoint ink. The generic product compositions intentionally contain blank paper. A buyer whose workflow depends on immediate handling should arrange an appropriate check with the actual approved paper and pen, keeping the result specific to that combination and its conditions.
Make a substitution request complete
Record the current instrument's exact model, required ink color, mechanism, tip category and any documented form requirement. Then compare the proposed pen on those fields. If an essential field is missing, leave the decision open and ask the supplier. A known LR7-to-BL77 refill relationship is useful for maintaining this selected gel pen, but it does not approve changing a workplace's writing standard. Price comparison should follow the functional decision rather than decide it by itself.
Read the receiving instruction literally
An order request that says black pen may allow a broad choice, while one that names an approved ballpoint model may not. The buyer should obtain clarification from the person responsible for the document process rather than silently replacing the requirement with an appealing gel product. A substitution note can state the proposed BL77-A ink category and the unanswered suitability question in one sentence. That creates a reviewable choice without inventing a certification, a test result or an internal policy. Once the requirement is clarified, compare actual offers for the accepted specification.
